Doug Fonder
Doug Fonder has spent more than 50 years in the aquatic arena. As President/CEO of the International Swim Coaches Association since its inception in 2011, Doug has been supporting the development of coaches throughout the US and abroad.
From his beginning as a swim coach in 1970 throughout his career ending at the end of 2021, he placed swimmers at every Olympic Trials from 1972 to 2021, 13 consecutive quads. He has developed National Champions, worked with multiple Olympic athletes and medal winners. He was Virginia Coach of the Year multiple times, YMCA National Coach of the Year twice, along with many other Regional and National awards.
By heading up ISCA, he has the ability to reach more than 50,000 world-wide swim contacts, which will go a long way with helping clubs find the right coach for their needs. By having a Masters Degree from the University of Chicago, in Community Organization along with almost 50 years in working in the non-profit sector, we will have the ability to really help guide teams and organizations in their staffing areas.
Dan Flack
Dan was an an assistant coach at Penn State University and arrive at Happy Valley with an extensive career coaching at the national, collegiate and high school levels.
In 2011, Flack began working with the USA National Junior Team in various capacities, including serving as the Head Coach for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships for 2018. Between that role and three assistantships at the World Junior Swimming Championships, Flack coached 11 different athletes to either the USA National Team or Junior National Team.
Flack served as the Director of Competitive Swimming and Head Coach at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn. from 2005-22, managing the coaching staff of the school’s coed varsity swimming program. His responsibilities included serving as the liaison between the swimming program and school admission department to recruit students, and for college coaches and student-athletes during their recruitment process.
Baylor increased in size from three boarding students to 18 in his first three years, maintaining double digit numbers in the years that followed. Becoming an interscholastic powerhouse, Flack’s teams won six Swimming World Magazine National Championship – three for the girls’ teams (2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12) and three for boys’ teams (2007-08, 2008-09, 2017-18). The girls’ team also garnered a #2 nationwide ranking in 2009-10. Baylor School also won the state championships every year from 2005-2022.
Individually, Flack trained 15 different Olympic Trials Qualifiers and one athlete who went on to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games for their home nation of The Bahamas. More than 120 Baylor swimmers earned All-American honors, and more than 50 went on to compete for colleges, most on either athletic or academic scholarships. Members of his teams set five national high school records, for both individual competition and relays, and his squads rewrote the Southeastern Swimming record books with more than 50 new marks.
At the NCAA level beyond Penn State, he served as Assistant Coach for the swim clubs at the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Bulldogs won the 1999 women’s NCAA and SEC championships, with Flack working with the mid-distance swimmers. In Chapel Hill, he tutored seven All-American and 14 ACC champions with the men’s and women’s teams.
Before working at the Baylor School, Daniel served as Raleigh Swimming Association Program Director and Head Coach, was a program director and Head Coach at the Bengal Tiger Aquatic Club (Baton Rouge, La.), and the Bruin Swim Club (Providence, R.I.). With Raleigh, Flack achieved a NCSA Junior Men’s, Women’s and combined team championship in 2004 and earned Gold Medal status by United States Swimming.
Flack received his Bachelor of Science in Administration of Criminal Justice from UNC Chapel Hill.
